Future Events

Hosting of the various European Championships has been awarded by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation for the coming years. Unfortunately, no venues in Germany have been selected for one of these events. Still, we are looking forward to exciting competitions abroad and we will of course keep you informed as soon as any future applications for running such an event in our country might have been successful again.

What makes international events so special is a combination of different reasons. Not only for the participants themselves, but especially for the numerous spectators following on site or from their home countries through a live stream or simply by monitoring the scores, those representing one or another country can become heroes. Medals and titles are what counts to most, but also a simple participation can be a lifetime experience to some, realizing the basic idea of the Olympics.

Even as this goes for many sports, bowling championships are different in a positive way. Not only that age does hardly matter and that each event brings up several winners in different disciplines such as singles, doubles, trios and teams besides of an all-event and a masters competition, it is the fact that each and every decision is a thrilling one up to a very late stage of the final game. Some people compare it with a visit in an Online Casino when they follow a final in one of the European Bowling Championships.

Surprising enough that these aspects have not led to inclusion of bowling in the Olympic games yet. The recent attempt to be considered for Tokio 2020 had been followed up intensely by millions of bowlers around the globe until another decision against this fantastic sport brought up big disappointment in fall 2015. The leading bowling organizations, together with tremendous support of their members will keep this vision alive and work on realizing this goal for the future. The next opportunity might be the 2024 games, whose host is to be selected no earlier than in September 2017.

In the meantime, we look forward to other big events such as the World Games with its next editions to be run in Wroclaw, Poland 2017 and in Birmingham, Alabama, USA in 2021. Tenpin bowling has been included in this biggest multi-sports-competition for non-olympic sports for many years already. Ninepin bowling made it to this event when it was hosted in Duisburg, Germany in 2005, but it could not establish as a fixed part of the World Games afterwards.

Further highlights are of course the Bowling World Championships, which are conducted every year for various age groups. In summer 2016, Youth bowlers will meet in Lincoln, USA and later this year the World Singles Championships for Men and Women is to be held in Doha, Qatar. In 2017, again two World Championships are scheduled with the Seniors to compete in Unterföhring/Munich, Germany and finally the combined event for Men and Women in different disciplines to be run in December in Kuwait City.
